100% completely different options makes me think you have no idea what you're doing

The KLR650 is a dog. A modded 250 will be mega slow.

Just gonna save up for the fz-6 and pick up another 250 dual sport. Don't you think a 650 would be too big for trails?

Its a pig but its manageable with a gear change and more aggressive tires. That is assuming you have good fundamentals and are at least 5'8 160lbs. I rode mine off road a lot. An XR650R with a street conversion is a MUCH better off road bike. Almost twice the power. Then you can tell people you ride a BRP. Big Red Pig.

how far of commutes? also a klx 250,thats been bored will not make you happy. and for 1300?thought u guys were friends? that expensive as hell to me.. new theyre what 4k? if that?thats a 20 yr old bike.. obvious the motor has been rebuilt (hence bored) but its definately been ragged out then. if youre wanting trail and street, PERSONALLY i would do a crf450 and buy the dual sport kit, only $500. and pick up a cheap ass street bike. Both bikes with the kit should be around 3k ish? lol i know 450's go for 1500 all day, early 2000's. and a late 90's street bike, (if going street fighter it doesnt really matter does it?) could be had for around 1500 or less... just saying man.

no the trail bike will only be a fun trail bike, very little commuting unless i feel like riding it.

dual sports that are plated in california are fairly expensive. When i bought my xr250 it was nice find since i bought it for $900.
