Recently totaled my car, I got around $4,500 for it from my insurance company, looking to buy another used car using that money, and I'm willing to pay up to $5,000 more out of pocket.
I'm looking for a car that will last me a while.

My requirements for the car are as follows:

Good gas mileage
5 speed manual transmission
Not a sports car (for insurance purposes)
under 80,000 miles
preferably a sedan, as I often give people rides
under $10,000 obviously
7 years old or newer (last car was a 2005)

So I've been looking up cars, and the most frequent type of car I've seen that fit my requirements are Chevy Aveos:

2011 LS (69,000 miles) for $8,500;
2010 (20,000 miles) for $7,628;
2009 5 LS (57,000 miles) for $6,988;
2008 5 SV (70,000 miles) for $4,900

My question: What do you guys think about Chevy Aveos? Are they good cars? If so, which one of the above do you think is the best deal? I'm looking for one that will last me a while, I don't need anything too fancy. Please feel free to suggest a different kind of car that falls within my requirements as well, I'm definitely not set on having an Aveo.

And yes, I am doing my own research as well. I just want some peoples' opinions who are familiar with cars and I figured this would be as good a place as any to ask.

Thanks in advance for your help! Feel free to PM me or post here if you have any questions.

Jettas are a little pricey, there's a 2002 Passat near me with 30,000 miles on it for about nine grand, but that's a little old for me...

NSA agent left him very sore and he kept having to shift his butt around and in the midst of doing so he accidentally turned off his headlights and ran into a car that didn't see him coming.

$5 says i'm right.

Traffic was backed up further than I thought, I was following the car in front of me too closely, she slammed on her brakes and I rear-ended her going roughly 15-25 mph.

Here's a picture of my car vs. her car. lol.
