have a 1978 f250 that just locked up and have a free efi donor engine out a late 80s f150.

both 300s so i figured it would just be a matter of putting the carb parts off the locked up engine onto the new engine but idk now lol

only issue so far is putting an electric fuel pump on the older truck but i'm wondering if i'm missing anything else like that.

i've read through a lot of them but i think the main problem is people don't have both complete trucks like i do.

they say you need so and so distributor but i think all these odds and ends are for people who don't have a carb'd truck already.

think ima just try it and see how it goes because aside from the fuel pump thing i don't really see why there should be a problem basically using a newer casting of the 300.

If you're going backwards, from injection to carbs. Regardless, the ignition shouldn't matter a whole lot.

A points distributor will not work with electronic fuel injection. But since you're going carbs, that doesn't matter.

And an electronic distributor will be a wonderful upgrade to the carb setup. Or you could use pretty much any older L6 Ford distributor (off a 240ci, for example) if you wanted points for some reason (don't see why you would)

I'm assuming what is on the motor now is an electric HEI (high energy ignition) distributor. Which provides a nice hot spark.

Fuel pump wiring isn't a big deal. You should look into ways of wiring it into your oil pressure sender, as a safety, so if the vehicle stalls/dies the fuel pump will also shut off.

I am on my phone, so I can't actually research your exact vehicle.

Well, back to work. Lunch time is over..
