trying to fix the front turn signals
the front ones use a connection like this:

but do not work
good power
good ground
i even used a test light to give power to the bulb and using a different ground (trying it both ways, connection 1 ground connection 2 power, connection 1 power connection 2 ground)
the test lights illuminates, but the bulb does not (the first way, not the second)
i've tried new and old bulbs, same result

Sounds like a classc case of low binker fluid

If your putting a new working bulb in, and you tested the power source and it checks out ok , something is going right over your head. Aka your doing it wrong

Put the bulb in and spin in till it locks in ?

roll down the window and use hand signals duh...

check connectors if power source and bulb is new, try swapping over your working one over see if that fixes the problem.

bulb has been in sense he got the car, securely.
I'll have to do the obvious that I didn't think of: using a volt meter and checking the voltage/resistance.

A lighr bulb is not that complicated
You said the test light , ligjhts up when you insert the prongs into the socket
And your new bulb is NOT faulty and works? ( test this on the other side of the car if unsure )

The only other room for error is human error

E: no cracks in the housing?

no cracks, some wear on the ground wire about half a foot back but only on the coating itself
I've put the power though the light bulb itself via the same socket via the test light and the bulb didn't light up: but the test light did.
Both sides, the drivers and passengers side, don't work on the front.

Oh both sides dont work??

And the test light lights up no problem when you test it?

Need blinker fluid imo man . I cant help you unless you bought bulbs that arent right. They might fit, but connectors might be different

the connection for the bulb is right (there are two contacts, one for each of the nubs on the bottom of the bulb)
the bulb housing only allows a bub that has notches where one is near the bottom, and the other in the middle.
this type fits:

one like this does not:
