Midas wants to charge me 390$ for part + labor to replace the flex pipe + a small portion right next to the flex that is cracked.

Is this way overpriced? I have a buddy that welds. Would this be easy for me to order and do myself?

Go to an exhaust shop, they'll fab and install a pipe for you. It should be significantly cheaper.

yes its that. but the main thing is a leak literally like 3 inches away from the flex, its just a crack in the pipe. easy replace/weld...

i figured 390$ is an overprice

I cant personally see it being over $150, thats from a shop that charges people alot to begin with.

take it some where els, you should be aorund $100, for a flex pipe, 6 inchs of tubing, and 3 beads. 2 cuts. lol, thats all it is

if i got charged $150, id be like meh. $200 and they can shove it. $100 and id be a happy guy.

just from my experience with very similar issue i had repaired

what kind of vehicle? flex pipes can get fairly expensive when you get into bigger sizes

I work at an exhaust shop. An estimate without being able to see it would be anywhere from $120-150. They are usually in a bad spot to weld, and they are hard to cut because they are usually underneath the oil pan, and you have to be careful not to damage the oil pan when cutting. You can buy a cheap flex pipe from a local parts store for like $30 but they are cheaply made and do not last long.
