Im 25/male and currently drive a 2003 v6 mustang with 107k miles in Michigan.

What I am looking for in a car:
  • Affordable payment (around or under 300/mo)
  • Better than my mustang in the snow (almost anything haha)
  • Space for hockey bags, hockey sticks and golf bags
  • good fuel economy (I suppose comparable to the 2014 fusion would be a good measure)
  • Looks suitable for a 25 year old (both professional and sporty- not like a towncar lol, and probably not a subaru WRX or legacy look)
  • American Made

Ive come here before looking but had no real requirements and it was really open ended. Now I have some requirements.

Ive been looking at (all new models) :
  • Fusion
  • Malibu
  • Escape

I'm open to any and all suggestions.
The top of the list has always been the Fusion. Someone at work mentioned they just got an Escape. I never considered them because the 2010 Escape was almost purely a woman's car lol. I feel the new escape may not be so womanly this time.

Thoughts on the Escape?
  • I know people arent a fan of the transmission in the Fusion and Escape this time around but no big deal to me
  • Is the new one a woman's car? I dont think so myself but hate to even have to ask that haha
  • Seems to have more space than the Fusion and the same specs in terms of price range, fuel eco etc so it seemed to be the better drive.
  • Will conquer the snow with 4WD
  • Turbo option

Am I looking in the right places? Buy or lease? Other car options?

If you convince me to buy a certain car I will give you 100 fg and post pictures.
I would like to either A) get a new car before winter or B ) drive my mustang in to the ground.

I would but I would be too scared to drive it in the snow :(

I dont want to base the entire decision around snow driving but it certainly would be helpful to my life.

buy an impala

decent gas mileage, spacious, ~300 hp

edit: I'm sure it's great in the snow granted you have proper tires

go with the fusion...will have everything youre looking for...or if you can swing it try a Taurus...basic package would be similar to the fusion..and with FWD or AWD you will be fine in the snow bro. good luck buddy!

Taurus is too expensive I think. Fusion is top of the price range. Its always been the #1 prospect.

The new malibus and fusions are nice for Michigan winters. But I say get a jeep grand Cherokee decent size and gas mileage + 4x4 for the snow
