Whenever I finally find the Jeep I want I plan on buying a remote start right away.
That being said, I know nothing about them.
How much should I look at spending for a decent kit?
How hard is the install? I installed and wired all of my audio equipment myself so wiring isn't a big issue for me.

Any thing to watch out for? And does anyone make kits that can also lock/unlock your car or is it normally just the ignition function?

It's normally lock/unlock function and the remote start is the additional feature you pay more for.

Viper makes some good ones. Some would also say Clifford but I have no personal experience with Clifford.

Whatever you do don't buy a cheap one that forces you to splice into all kinds of wiring. The $49.99 type from Autozone... That is asking for trouble.

Anything cheaper you guys could recommend?

Viper has one that uses an iphone app but idk if I want to be forced to always use my phone instead of a remote.

edit: or this one?

perhaps it is, i didnt look much. If so that could be interesting. I wonder if it works off of your data plan and sends a signal so you could essentially unlock it from anywhere? That would be neat if you ever let someone borrow your car and they got locked out.

just read their FAQ and it seems that it works from anywhere in the US.
There was no mention of being able to use a normal remote though, I also didnt see the price. If its around the same price as other kits and can use a normal remote I think that would be a cool system

Im kinda out of time to look tonight though. Ill look more into it tomorrow if no one else knows more.
