2000 Honda Civic

Not sure when it happened, but all of a sudden, I have a whole LOT of travel in my clutch pedal, before it engages.

Thought I'd tighten the clutch cable, so off to YouTube and Google I went, but for the life of me, I can't find where the f?!k the clutch cable comes through the firewall.

Any knowledgable Honda bros? or is there anything else you guise would suggest checking?

Your clutch is hydraulic from the sound of it. You can adjust free play at the pedal but it could be a master cylinder, slave cylinder, fluid, or pressure plate problem.

Check the fluid level. If its good and not black/dark green adjust the free play. If its low or dark you need to bleed it. If you bleed it and the problem is still there it it comes back your master or dlave cylinder is bad most likely. That usually happens between 150k and 200k miles.

Hm. Given that I'm at 318k and change, guess I'm about due. =p

I'll check ze fluids when I get a chance. Thanks for the Google-fu. :)

Yeah, was weird; in 10+ years of driving manual, I've never had that happen.

It's fine, it's fine, then out of the blue, the pedal just went to the floor. O_O

Definitely a good learning experience, though, about what it was, and what to look for. Just hope I didn't grind up my clutch too much before I was able to get it sorted. =p

There's a locknut and rod on the top of the pedal. Just did it today in a customer car.

I'm starting to get a little play like this in my 2004 GMC, going to try the same thing.
