I only buy new cars, personal preference.

Many here will tell you to buy used cause you take a hit on buying new cars when you go to trade then in down the road, but you build up equity in them as you go along so it really isnt a bad decision.

do you have a car in mind you would like to buy?

depends on the car IMO

I bought mine new, mostly because unmolested boosted cars are hard to find / never know what the previous owners did to it

If you are going new, get something with low miles, not brand new right off the lot.

Generally speaking yes, it is a waste of money. There has to be a reason that is worth the depreciation hit to you. I would only buy new if I planned on keeping it for a long time. Something I would daily drive I would never buy new. It isn't worth it to me and I can sell the used vehicle sooner to rotate more often.

You don't buy new cars, thats what your parents buy for you lol.

Buying a car thats basically brand new makes much more sense than buying brand new as you'll avoid the giant hit the value of the car takes right when it rolls off the lot. Being the first owner of a brand new car is nice though if you don't mind the money you're throwing away.
