So everyone I have ever talked to who has owned a Toyota Tacoma has said they loved it and it was one of the best trucks they ever drove. I am looking into buying one but not sure what the best year was for them. Looking perhaps around 2005. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had an 02 4cyl/auto 2wd. The fuel economy was not as good as I felt it should be. I averaged 22mpg 50/50 city/hwy.

the 05's had some problems with the manual transmissions. 05 was the first year of the 2nd Gen, so they had some other kinks to work out also. I would look for an 06+ with an Auto trans. If you want a manual, get an 07+

They definitely hold their value fairly well.
I thought about getting an early 2000s or late 90s but they want 10k for anything decent. Id rather spend another 10k on something new.
