Ive been trying to message on another make/model specific forum but its down or my browser wont let me post it for some reason. so im trying here.

Origional Post:

After about an hour searching through the stickys and search bar, ive found tons of info about LOWERING my car, but not RAISING IT. I need ground clearance. i need more of it.
-Please keep in mind im a novice at best at cars, and my terminology is likewise. Ill do my best to keep you from face-palming your self.

Info about the Car:
2003 (7th gen) Honda Civic EX Coupe. Previous Owner lowered the car by chopping the springs. Also added performance Air Intake (K&n Cone) and about 2" exhaust system/manafold. The whole pipe to the headers i believe. Also before they sold it to me, they took the stock rims (15in for the EX only) and replaced them with 14inch Stealy's. Ive got new 15" rims for christmas, just not tires to go with them yet.

Problem im trying to fix:
I bottom out on everything, at gas stations on the raised caps, Medium sized ROCKS in the road, and most importantly, SPEED BUMPS. My apartment complex just added 4inch Speed bumps (6 of them) that wreak HAVOC on my car. I hear the pinch welds scraping (i hope its only the pinch welds) and half way through that aftermarket exhaust pipe that i mentioned previously scrapes.

Information ive collected:
After reading all the stickys and searching, i believe i need new Springs, OEM or taller. I believe i can also get a little ground clearance with slightly higher profile tires???(this ive heard conflicting arguments however) Aside from taking it to a shop and saying, "gimme more clearance", then them slapping me with a 2000 bill for something i could of paid half that for by doing research my self is not ideal

Miscellaneous Preferences:
I really don't care if it looks tacky(i'm in a richer part of town, i already don't fit the status quo) i just need the most clearance for the best price

Cash i can spend:
initial fees of everything said and done have left me with little money to spare (ive got $850 plus a little i can borrow)

So do i look on junkyard sites? online thrift sites (the big E? or c's list?) for springs and can i get higher diameter tires?
Is that all i need?

Please help me out, shoot me links (and tell me where to look in them!!! i dont want to read 2 hours just to over look what i needed to know) or provide any info pertaining to getting ground clearance. 4x4 sites dont work for a civic coupe.

I would look on some civic forums for someone selling stock springs. I'd imagine there's tons of people out there who have swapped and who are looking to get rid of their OEM parts for cheap.

the main one im a member of is having IT issues and arent allowing posting ATM,
Is springs all i need?

Can i achieve any ground clearance from tires? ive got one inch up wheels, i assume they will scrape the wells until i get the suspension taken care of

You shouldn't come up against anything too tall for a stock height civic unless you go offroad... oem springs and shocks thrn get an alignment.

Hard to tell the extent of what you "need." How much clearance, exactly, do you have currently? Any pics?
