Would it be illegal for me to drive my parents car (which is insured) without having called and letting them know that I'll be driving the cars as well?

I just recently got my license.

If you aren't a second driver on the insurance policy, yes, it's illegal.

If you're not a listed driver, you're not covered. So I'd get on that list if I were you.

I spent all my teenage years saying this. Then I got caught by way of a license plate light being out.

They have to put you on as an occasional driver. Once you have your own vehicle if you get full comprehensive insurance you can drive anyone's vehicle.

If hes a registered driver in the same household that they don't know about he isn't covered regardless. If its some other random person that wouldn't have regular access to the car they'll be covered.
