You can buy a kit for 20 bucks comes with a buffer, cleaning agent, and polish + sone micro fiber cloths
All you need is a dill and 2 hands

/ive uses it before , did it right and took my time. Came out awsome

toothpaste works but you need something to mush it in nicely into the light

used toothpaste on my old diablo 2 disc and it worked hah

another thing is to try sandpaper, probably the one that's less grainy used it on my parent's 98' sentra and it worked

Those headlight restoration kits work great. You can do a couple of cars with just 1.

Tried toothpaste once ... right after it looked brand new but after about 10min it came back to like it was before

we have to use a sandpaper wheel and rubbing compound on the headlights of our semis. its a bitch getting them clean if theyve been neglected

I just use WD-40 and a buffing ball on my power drill... Works fine for me.

Toothpaste doesn't hold up in Humid environments.
