It's official. LS2/T56 swapped brz weighs 3040lbs. Thats a 240lb gain over stock. A lot of it was transmission weight.


C5 Z06 weight 3172lbs. Thats a 132lb difference and the differential in the brz has not been upgraded as far as I know. The vette has a very strong getrag unit.


Turbo BRZs are running mid 13's. Tuned 6.2L silverados are in the 13's. Bolt on BRZs appear like they will live in the upper 14's. 225hp 5.0 foxbody mustangs run high 14's.

As much as they don't want to admit it the BRZ is only going to be competitive in parking lot racing. You DO need straight line speed to be fast on a road course.


The car was built to be fun to drive for people that like high corner speed and not having to lift. You get the impression you are driving the wheels off of it because you can flat foot it early on corner exit and it has prius tires. It's real fun but false performance. It is a facade. It is a good car and there is a good place for it in the market. What we need is for the current and prospective owners to realize this or admit it. No one on any major car forums has any respect for the car or the owners because of their unbelievable attitudes and overall internet presence.


Im awaiting a counter argument with some technical back up. No personal opinions or "so and so sold his GTR after he bought one."

When you design away performance in exchange for a "fun" driving experience you are selling out.

All of this just reminds me of the old Civic dance... Good car, fun dd, not a race car. Still not shabby in autox imo, which would be its 1 up on a Civic.

The used market on these cars is going to be hilarious. Its going to be full of cars with fuck up rims, scrapes, and slipping clutches from kids who thought they could go drifting.

I'm not sure how you can say a well balanced car (near 50/50) with a low center of gravity is 'false performance'. It's simply performance. Unless you're trying to say things like center of gravity and weight distribution have no effect on the performance of a car?
