On 1997 Firebirds is there a difference on Formulas and Trans Ams? Looking around I see same engine specs, but difference classifications, but I only see a Trans Am with an Automatic V8. Did they make a V8 Formula, or are all V8s Formula Trans Am's?

Thanks for the help, sorry it the question doesn't make total sense. Basically I bought one the other day as a Formula but my insurance claims is a Formula Trans Am so Just want to make sure they are the same thing unlike a Mustang, Gt, Cobra, Mach1.

I thought they just re-badged it because it was time to choose a TransAm for GM?

Formulas and trans ams are both v8 cars. Think of a formula as a v8 in a v6 body. The trans am has different bumpers and a different rear hatch. The trans am is more expensive. Mechanically they are identical.

Actually the second one is a ws6 which can also be on the formula so the hood can be on both. Those are ls1 cars too. He is looking at a 97 which is an lt1.
