got some work done these past few days.
took the van to my dads, we backed it up on ramps then jacked the front end skyhigh, i could actually sit under the van in some sections.
pressure washed the engin*** afther letting it soak in degreaser, took out the old exhaust/manifolds. had to drain the coolant to get my water temp sensor wire out of the way, took the dipstick out, power steering braket had to be removed cuz it bolts to the manifold.
burned the protection paint of the headers in the fire cuz it was taking for ever to grind it off, painted them with 2 coats of silver paint
took of the valve covers grinded them down and painted them red, also painted the dipstick tube black and its bracket also black, with the tip of the stick red.
got some new spark plugs at the parts store and afther fitting the headers so easily shit hit the fan when it came time to put the spark plugs on the passenger side, we had to take the header out and ''massage'' it with the hammer and torch to allow us to fit the plug and its boot, also a brake line was to touching a tube so that got cleared out. So back to painting for that set of tubes but we got it all buttoned up and had the van running on open headers with the power steering pump hanging loosely... oups.
today we hooked up the side pipes witch was pretty strait forward, got a bit of issues with some of the slip fit pipes witch wouldn't slip over the other pipe... had 1 in the freezer and the other red hot and some hammer action going on.
did the cooking heat cycles for the header paint, realized one of the valve cover screws wasn't screwed when oil was dripping on the headers i was pissed but it was an ez fix.
also changed a hose that connects the hard vacuum line from the carburetor to the transmission witch was torn and i can feel the difference, very happy about this!
some eye candy, the van needs a thorough cleaning before i take nice pics.
