So I've been working all summer to get my first car. I'll have about $1,500 saved up by the time school starts again. I was hoping to get myself one of these older cherokee models

Probably 1988-1995ish model

does anyone have experience with these?

4.0 straight 6 is nice

however you will need to climb under and all in it looking for bad rust

and some of these have terrible cooling systems prone to overheating

Well good news is you probbly wont have much rust issue haha, nothin like us here in canada, fuckin salt
But yea, grt who ever owns the jeep to meet you sonewhere, and go fr a test drive. If he drives or you do. See temp

But none the less good choice imo for starter vehicle, their bullet proof and will run for ever with juat your regular up keep

if you buy an older year model one then you can basically go do a salvage yard swap from a newer year model one if it has overheating issues for fairly cheap.

i can't recall exactly which year models where like this but i wanna say like early 90s models.

awesome 1st car. When you get in your 1st wreck you'll be glad you were driving a Cherokee. It's a tank.

You still in Cali? You can prob get a 2wd Cherokee for your price range. 4wd for your price will be a beater.

Yeah, Southern California.

I don't plan on taking it off the road, just to work, school, and the usual teenage places

I used to have a 94, it didn't have overheating issues at all. The guy who had it before me had put an electric fan on it, and it worked great. Takes a bit of load off the engine to boot.
