From left to right:

Muffler(not shown in picture) --> picture --> up to headers(not shown in picture)




Which one of these is the catalytic onverter, and what is the other thing? 2001 Ford Escape V6

rough idle and idles at real low rpms <500
will not accerlerate. even with pedal to floor. it just bogs down. then when it finally gets to 40mph it "kicks in yo"
it has a "skip" at cruising speeds which causes hard jerking.
engine code says egr valve and cylinder 1 misfire.




I've already replaced the coil pack and spark plug three times on cylinder one, it will run fine for about 15 minutes and start misfiring again. I've replaced the intake gasket. I've also cleaned the egr valve.

Car is fine its just how fords run.

WEll, I replaced the DPFE sensor, and it runs a hell of a lot better, but still has the "misfire" at cruising speeds. I took it to a friend who is a mechanic, and he said the brake booster is leaking. He also told me to run it with the new sensor fora few days to see if cylinder 1 will clear itself. IF not, to buy a Ford OEM coil pack and new spark plug.


Also, ran it without the cat, and is was doing the same thing, so the Cat isn't the problem. IT sounded like a white trash 1500 with straight pipes though.

My eclipse did something similar and it was caused by the headers right by the block the manifold was all corroded causing all that power to be lost at the block, I could like floor it and it'd be like 7k rps and id be going normal speeds lol.

Part was like 28 dollars from oriely think it was intake manifold gasket?

sounds like an air flow sensor issue.
