I already have this thread on another forum but I figured why not, since there's a motor sports section here.

Official build & tune date from Nigel is 17 July 2013. *** dyno tune graphs will be uploaded after ***

Bought the car on *** in February 2011. Didn't know my automotive left from right. Never changed a flat tire. I've since done just about everything to it short of pulling the engine... I have rebuilt the transmission by hand in the driveway though and that was a great time. I've amassed all the tools and stuff. Good times.

I didn't have a purpose or a build in mind in the beginning but I sat down and really started to think about what I was going to do with this car if I decided to put a lot of time and money into it. Long story short, I decided to build a rally car that would be legal in rally-america group 5. I have never competed in rally but I am planning on going through the o'neill rally school and buying a group 2 car to begin with, and work my way up to the neon. Until then I will be on the prowl for other things to get some experience in, off the record.

My plans got fucked up a little while ago though when I got orders to go to Korea for 3 years. I leave for Korea in September 2013. Oh well. Maybe I'll get to transfer the car over there after a year or so and find something to do locally. Doubt it though.

More time for more parts and more mods then. Carrying on.

nice work. especially from having no prior experience. The best way is to literlly just start taking things appart and see'ing how they work :) Alot of people think its harder than it actually is.

Looking forward to seeing the dyno results aswell !

Yeah man, once I got into it, it just turned into an instant addiction. After that transmission rebuild it was on. :)

I'm not terribly concerned with the dyno results because it's going to make loads of power anyways, more than I need. I am expecting to be able to shoot upwards of 700whp but I'm going to have to keep it below 700tq or so because of the non-twin disc clutch I'm running on now. It was all I could find on such short notice. I had a twin disc spec clutch on order but they noticed me saying it was on backorder a month after I ordered it... Oh well. It's really no big deal.

Lol yeah... it's ok though. When people ask me what I drive, I say 'a neon'. I'm not worried about it. I'd rather they think I drive a shit box when 700whp breaks their neck. I'm 1 in 1000 neon owners that has a budget and is able to actually put money into their car. I'm not an aspiring drag racer either. The SRT-4 is consistently one of the best in class for FWD rally so it's actually good choice. Chris Greenhouse is doing quite well in his SRT-4 in rally-america.

I flew through this pretty fast but what fuel are you going to plan on running? Any additives (water-meth, alchy) ?

Bump your clutch and axles to the front of the "to do" list in my opinion. Other then that, looks like a pretty solid build for your first car, research goes a long ways!
