its a mercury 650 3 cylinder 65 horse.
got no spark cleaned the points on the distributor and checked grounds still nothing

anybody know whats next to check?

ive been googling and keep seeing something about a trigger under the distributor cap that is known to go bad and cause these issues

Do you have a spark plug checker? Will attach to plug and wire. Usually lights up.

What year motor is it?

Make sure that battery is good also. Most motors need to be In neutral to start also.
