so my brother seen this and wanted to try it out on his mustang. So i ordered him one and get it in the mail and all it is is a resistor.

has anyone tried these? if so what did u think about it.

so far most of the stuff I read said it doesnt give the hp or mileage boosts they offer and also can be bad for the car.

we did put in in earlier just to check it out and for the first time it actually broke a tire loose and left a 4 ft black mark lol. My brother wanted it more for the fuel economy it supposedly got though.

EDIT: I'm debating on sending it back for my $9 or just giving him bad marks on the site i bought it

Why would you do either? You bought it, you should have done the research beforehand. Why should the seller have to refund for your mistake? Especially when you've already used it.

well my brother is the one who found it and said he wanted it. I really didnt read anything on it til it came in the mail and i seen it was a 50 cent resistor.

It does specify in the description that it is a resistor but the topic/title for it says it a performance chip.

Although possibly i could see the hp gain I highly doubt u are gonna gain fuel mileage by cause a rich condition and advancing the timing. although my brother hasnt said anything yet so we will see.

why would it still work when a power programmer is gonna do the same thing except it will actually have a fuel ratio curve.

as far as already using it I can get 5 of em at radio shack for $1.50 and send him an unused one.

Yeah and multiple CAI and other light mods say that they improve mpg by 5 and have up to a 15hp increase.

Why would you believe information that the manufacturer puts out. It is 100% biased for benefit.

If it was possible for a simple chip to have such increases, don't you think they would have been released WITH the car, considering the consumer is being charged $9, where they probably make it for pennies.

There is no such thing as a cheap hp / mpg gain. You can do light mods that increase mpg by at most 2-3 mpg, but don't expect a wide gain.

55hp, 20mpg+, what a joke.

yeah def not getting that much hp or mpg gains lol. but so far sadly it does have more hp and gas milage has been better. still have to check it on a longer scale. the hp he doesnt care to much about just hoping to squeeze more fuel mileage.

I wanna squeeze some more out of mine to but with a 5.0 in a thunderbird its kinda hard lol. although so far I cant complain about it to bad. need to get new shocks on it and exhaust ficed before anything else though.
