Picked this bike up as a project.

I have all the main problems fixed, but now it's time to get into the nitty gritty tune up style problems.

Only issue is, there aren't any good dealers or shops nearby (that I know of) that'll work on such an old bike or Yamaha.

Anyone have experience with this bike? Or can you direct me to an active bike forum where there would be people able to help?

I can provide more details as needed :)

Thanks!

what exactly are you looking for info on?

theres a ton of stuff to look over on a bike from wires to an engine rebuild if you want to make sure its going to be problem free.

Clutch mainly for now. And I also need to fix the points to perfect the timing. That's the major stuff for how. Eventually I need to fix the electric starter too, the problem is behind the generator though. I have some questions about the carbs too

Wiring is all good except for part of the system involving the electric starter

It isn't the starter, it's the wiring from the generator to the starter.

this is one of those situations where you can't really do much to help over the internet lol.

that's a very old bike and aside from basics there isn't much else you should have to do to get it running.

the carbs are going to probably be the biggest hassle you should have to deal with to get it running unless the engine is ruined.

Everything is good except for the clutch right now and we've narrowed that down to either it needs to be replaced or it's an oil problem. Got new brake pads too for the front brakes.
I'm really just posting around on the off chance that someone with experience with this bike will have some suggestions for me. It's an old bike that is infamous for it's problems (it was essentially a prototype balanced twin), so I'm not surprised that there isn't a whole lot of background on it.
