As mentioned in a previous thread, we need a dedicated turbocharger/ supercharger thread.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss theoretical and practical knowledge regarding forced air induction systems.

Feel free to ask any questions, no matter how stupid you may think them to be. No judgement will be made. This is strictly a place for information for those who want it.

Feel free to bring up any forced air induction topic and we will discuss the principles to the best of our knowledge.

Keep on boosting!

Ill be the first guinie pig i guess to get the topic started.

I have a 2011 WRX stage 2 with a custom tune.

I am tuned for 19.5 lbs of boost. I have an Stri boost gauge and when i am at WOT my gauge is only reading 15lbs and then creeps down to maybe 14lbs. The BOV and WG are both stock. Im wondering if anyone can explain why i would be loosing boost?

Another question is how rich is to rich when it comes to a/f. Right now i am running 14 give or take while cruising but when WOT i am dipping into the high 10's. I see alot of threads where thier cars are in the mid 11's WOT.

I know it is better to be rich then lean but what is considered to rich?

Check for possible boost leaks. (vacuum lines, hose connections for your intake piping, exhaust leaks)

You'd have to ask your tuner about the a/f if there's a reason why he placed it at 10. (Maybe for a safer tune? Who knows, but they will)

14.7 is obvious stoic on a running car. High 10/11 is ideal for boosted cars.

Are turbo kits practical for motorcycles? Specifically a Vtwin Buell. Is the power to cost ratio worth it?
