What's up everyone

So I was driving the other day and there was a loud noise coming from the front driver side wheel. The sound is the loudest when turning/moving slow.
I thought that it might be a bad CV joint or even a tie rod issue but I took the wheel off and took a look and both look healthy. I noticed that the brake pads seem to be permanently clamped to the rotor. At least the outside pad. There is a mark along the rotor as if something is digging into it. Is this a simple fix - aka - buying new brake pads? I just don't want to bring it into the shop for something I can do myself. Thanks guys.

If youve determined that your calipers are seized, or in the process of becoming that way, youre most likely going to have to remove thr calipers and have your rotors turned on a lathe to remove any deep scratches caused by the pads.

Its pretty straight forward, if youd like to do it yourself. The only thing you'll have to outsource is bringing the rotors to a shop to have them turned.

This ordeal should not be very expensive. Youll probably want to buy a new set of pads for the fronts and change those once you get your rotors back.

Edit: this is assuming your calipers are still in working order

Second edit: (working from my droid so bear with me) how are your struts? Honestly thr first time i read the post I thought "a bad strut could be making these noises"

The scratch is not deep enough to have it thrown on a lathe but I know what you mean. I was thinking that one pad faded more so my caliper auto adjusted causing the outside pad to be pressed against the rotor permanently. So I don't just need new pads?

Just called VIP to see about getting an estimate..explained the issue to him and I got the response..." Sounds like we'd need to do a brake job"

Oh yeah!?!? I didn't realize..
