Plan on going single turbo and aiming for 450-500 wheels.

What supporting mods should I get.

Arp head studs?
BOlts?
What head gasket?
Thinking HKS or BC 272 cams.
What turbo?

Been doing a lot of research on turbos but don't know which to choose all turbos get good reviews and bad....

Any experienced people with a built 1jz-gte and ideas I use will be sent fg :D!

to be honest. Don't get crazy with metal head gaskets and stuff.

A proper tune is more important than the motor.

When you have a metal head gasket, when you detonate, instead of blowing a cheap felpro head gasket, the metal gasket will hold and you'll destroy your expensive pistons instead. The choice is yours.

Absolutely use ARP head studs. Forged pistons are not a necessity but they do add a bit of a buffer. But again, coated/forged pistons or any other modification wont be justified if you have a poor tune. Stand alone would be ideal in this situation. Not sure if you're willing to go that far though.

Reliability comes from the bottom end of the motor, power comes from the head. I'd spend money on larger valves and a port job well before I'd start worrying about cams. No point in putting a crazy cam in there if the restriction is in the ports.

If anything, 1.5JZ is the way to go (1JZ head, 2JZ block)

Andy has the right idea though, head = power, block = reliability
So..

build the bottom end (rods, pistons)
then head mods (springs, retainers, porting, oversized valves) <- you can raise your rev limiter if you do this, so more time in boost.

I haven't used anything but ARP headstuds so I'm biased towards them, but they're well known for a reason.

As for turbo, the GT30R sounds like a good choice for you, it can flow up to right around your power goals.

Head gasket wise, you're going to need to do a bit of research. Most after market companies make multiple head gaskets for the same motor with different crush thickness to allow you to "fine tune" the compression ratio of the motor.
