My mom's friend is a mechanic and his selling this car that he fixed up for $3500. He is very reliable on cars since my mom bought a car off of him. He said he fixed everything, etc and everything is working properly. he said he wants me to have it for "cheap" since we are very close.

That's a LOT of miles, if that's the original tranny + engine. I'd ask if either has been rebuilt / replaced.

Even then, 3500 is a lot for a 12 year old Accord, imo. I'd try to talk him down to around 2500. cuz I'm cheap.
