I often go work in mechanical rooms of buildings as an electrician so i took a couple pics of the engines at the place im working right now. (both cummins)
first one is smaller and single turbo


this seccond one is pretty big and is rollin on them twin turbosssssssss

My buddy is a diesel mechanic and shows me all kinds of engines like these. I think the biggest he has worked on was like well over 100 liters... so crazy.

He drives a cummins also go figure ;P

Yeah they can get huge.

The trucks I work on are only 90 liter mtu's to power a generator on the back of it lol

when i worked construction we used to put these in at the water and wastewater treatment plants we built. in plainfield indiana we put a caterpillar engine in and the fan blade was almost 6 feet by itself. you could walk into the area of the fan shroud and radiator like a room. i cant remember how many gallons of diesel it used but there was a huge underground diesel tank for it and it could burn through that in a short amount of time.

im assuming those are diesel generators (read the title and did a face palm lol)
where i worked at for the summer on placement we had two Cat diesel engines that were converted to natural gas driving two big screw compressors in a refrigeration plant
the whole plant horsepower rating is just over 7000 hp
never really had these things running alot since they had problems with the controls


bigger one is 1000 hp v12 with a single turbo


smaller one is 600 hp inline 6 with no forced induction
