Bought a 99 vw passat v6 120k miles
First day i get it on the road the waterpump fucks up

if you take it to a shop, I would guess 300 with labor.
if you do it yourself, however much the pump costs

its best to change the timing belt while your at it right?

It sure is.
one has to be removed to get to the other, and at 120k miles there's no reason not to swap it while you're in there.

Cost me $700 (included belt swap too) on my 02 m3 so maybe expect less but it IS a German car sooo.....

god damn im confused
A friend of mine works with VW and hes the one that said its probably the waterpump.. he also said waterpumps could be tricky
But someone else that works with cars told me that it might be the thermostat... or a pipe idk i forgot what he said
(they both checked it out)
this is what happened.. while i was driving i started to smell the car over heating, then the overheating light came on and the Temp Gage stayed half way..
i pulled over and popped the hood, i looked under the car and noticed all my coolant was pouring out the bottom..
i went to get a gallon of water to pour it in so i could drive it back home but it was leaking faster then i was pouring it in lmao
any thoughts?
