As I said before I own a ZX2 98 escort ford. It's my little DD at the moment.

It needs all new motor mounts.. That's my next fix on this fucking money pit.. But how long can I go without replacing them? I wont be able to repair it for a bit.. But I have been noticing some weird things.

Sometimes when coming to a stop or sitting at a red light every now and then it idles so low it starts to sput as if its gunna stall.. Give it a lil gas shes good.
Not always but sometimes.. Or it idles really really low.. The vibration of the cab is do to the bad motor mounts but is that cuasing the idling low and sometimes the sputing?

It starts fine it rides fine it just seems to idle really low sometimes. I already no my motor mounts are done.. My mechanic even said :P But I'm starting to think I have less time then he gave me.

You would be surprised at how much of a difference the motor mounts can make. I'd bet once you get them it'll feel like a whole different car.

I bet. The shaking and the idling would change too. But it's gunna cost me at least 300$ maybe more for just 2 of them.

Lol I had a 91 civic with a d16 swap.. Solid motor mounts

Point of post: motor mounts are overrated.. Thing felt like a top fuel dragster when you'd rev it keke

When you do give it gas is there a short delay before she peps back up?

I've seen this turn out to be as simple as a fuel filter.

And the motor mounts can cause serious problems... It gets worse the longer you drive it that way.

It does have a bit of a delay yes. Here is my thought after driving home from work: I smell gas in the cab after certain rev points. When it's climbing up from 0-80 each gear change you smell gas if you keep it steady at a certin speed it goes away so every time it goes up you smell it. My thoughts are that it injects to much fuel into the pistons. (Fuel Injection)

Second: It shakes the most when idling and yes there is a short delay. So my thoughts are the fuel pump needs to be replaced, And well I already know the motor mounts do I'm just curious if that's causing the put put every now and then. The bellow 800 RPM were it wants to stall.
