So I'm pretty familiar with trading cars on craigslist, I've traded 7 cars over the course of 3 years. I recently found out my daily commute is going to be much further due to some circumstances and there for need something better on gas, although I cannot drive something I do not like....Couple offers has came in but only one so far I'm interested in, however, I don't have any experience with these cars.

My car: 1991, all original, Formula Firebird, 5.7 Liter, 93,000 miles, extremely good condition. Slight fading on the paint, and ball joints need replaced.

His car: 1986 Porsche 944, all original, 2.5 Liter, 110,000 Miles, extremely good condition. Slight fading on the paint.

Don't get me wrong, I know the 944's aren't fast but the good decent MPG and between KBB and Nada the car books far higher than mine, which essentially is the only thing that really matters, a trade up is a trade up. Opinions?

You do have one thing going for you

The 86 engine year was a good year for the 944

anything 85.5 and earlier, stay away from.

The 944 will handle much much better than the Firebird.

But it will also be more expensive, and less forgiving.

Most mixed reviews I've ever read on a car in my life...The parts actually aren't as expensive as I thought they would be but I don't know. I'm checking out the car in a couple hours, so we'll see how it goes.

Edit: When I say not expensive, I don't mean in regards to the firebird, those parts were mostly dirt cheap.

I feel ya. I'm a big dude... I don't fit in most of those. I can't even drive a Firebird though. I mean literally, I can't. My feet are too big, and my legs are too long.
