So yeah, a lot less fun than it sounds, took out the passenger seat, had to take off all the runners and b-pillar moldings, seatbelts, most of the dash is off

on the other hand, ran lots of fresh monster 16ga (ya i know, monster, but for 100ft of 16ga i paid $20, sue me) to all the doors, 2 runs per door (1 speaker run, 1 tweeter run)

Rear doors each get a pyle pro titanium bullet tweeter, power acoustik dome tweeter, and alpine 2-way, front doors are getting a pyle pro tweeter and power acoustik midrange

1000w amp, to run the 4 pyle tweeters (off channels 3/4) and the 4 speakers (channels 1/2), rear 4x10s are still going to run off the head unit, as are the cyber acoustik tweeters, and depending on how they sound, the factory tweeters in the front doors

im left also with an extra alpine speaker and power acoustik tweeter (bought the alpines open box and one was cracked, 50% refund but wtf do i do with one speaker?)

Thinking of installing it in the glove box or dash if there is room enough....not sure

Also replaced the broken antenna with a new one, somehow the cord for it just BARELY makes it, which is a pain in the ass

in other news, anyone know where to get some kind of filler plate to fill the gap where the stock CD player slides in on a 1996 suburban? its too big to just leave in there with all the wires being run through the slot right behind it....

I will post pictures when i get around to taking them, i also have to do a brake job on my impala and about 1000 other things, as usual

did you not get a dash kit at all? walmart or best buy will have them locally.

or you can order higher quality online http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12544_Metra-99-3002.html

no i got a dash kit but the suburbans stock stereo has a seperate CD player in another nich below the fan controlls, so the install brackets only come with the hardware to install the stereo, not replace the CD player, so you have to buy the pocket seperately

You can see the CD player in the before image:

More pics:

The large titanium bullet horn tweeters are pyle pro PDBT19 tweeters
the front doors now have the power acoustik MID-65's
the rear doors have the Polk DXI650's
The smaller tweeters are Power acoustik NB-4's with a simple foam tape mod to smooth them out
The rear pillars are still the same cheap pyle plx4102 4x10s, with bass blockers on them
The amp is installed under my passenger seat, the picture is of the amp with the seat removed, i have the 4 6.5" midranges wired to channels 1/2 using the LPF, and the 4 pyle pro tweeters wired to channels 3/4 using hte HPF, the power acoustik tweeters and pyle 4x10s are still run off the head unit

The amp is installed using 4ga power and ground wire, and 16ga monster speaker cable to the speakers.

I don't find it aesthetically pleasing.

However, that is mostly cool equipment, and I'm sure it'll sound great.

it does sound great, as far as the tweeters, not much option on where to install them in the doors, the magnets on those are almost 3" around and 20oz each, BIG to say the least
