I have a 1jz-gte

How can I tell?

Bought a car with a 1jz-gte already installed guy said it wasn't vvti, but How can I look and tell just for personal proof before I go and buy cams.

Do you know the year of motor?

1996 and older were not VVT-i, you could also just look at the cams.

Don't want to dig into it!

But I guess I might as well. Pretty sure it's not vvti.

From the 1JZs I've seen they will have vvti written on the top

this,

but the most prominent thing would be whether or not you're single turbo and twin.

VVTi = Single, non-VVVTi = Twin

Thank you.

Thing1 what you said would be correct. But my engine is completely powder coated red!

Non-vvti

If you're referring to the grammar mistake, I mean to put single turbo "OR" twin.

my fault, not sure how I let that one slip. :D
