Bought a jetta for a work car 02 1.8T im getting a low oil press after driving it 1 1/2 hours check the oil everything is fine drives for 1hr longer it goes off again at this time im assuming its a fualty sender drive it home after checking oil 5mins worth of driving. Come to find out the 1.8T have a sludgeing problem due to the turbo running hot on them. Forums suggest many type of chem flushes some work some dont. Ive out sea foam in it so far drove it 40miles or so let idle for a bit then drained but havent had the time to put the new m1 synth in it yet. Anyone have this prob and how did you fix it without taking it to the vw shop.

What's low oil pressure?

What're your engine temps? Do they rise as well?

What weight oil are you running?

Any known leaks?

How much oil pressure at start up? While cold? Then while warm?

I guess I have a few more questions than you did haha :)

Just a low light indicator or no press qauge in car and i do not have a press gauge cap

No leaks that i can find

Temp at 190 when running and stays there

Dealer oil
Im assuming mid grade 5-30 non-synth or semi-synth i didnt think to look at windo sticker

I here people runn synthetic oil without probs

But i think i need to get rid of the build up if thats what is

Yep yep. Snag it off there and scrape it clean.

if its dealer oil its full synthetic

you should always use full synthetic oil on a fi vehicle, and with the 1.8t always use a vw approved oil to prevent sludge
