Put a newly used tranny into my car, its a saturn sl1 year 2000, hooked everything up

wont shift out of first gear in drive, wont manually shift to 3rd nor 2nd

i have park reverse and nuetral, and drive but only first gear in drive. help.

Who put it in? You sure the transmission is fine? Automatic it sounds like. How is the transmission fluid? Year, make model?

sounds like the trans is jacked. when my trans was acting up i read up on these kind of problems i just cant remember what it was atm

take it back, tell them you hooked it up and it doesnt work. if its a good scrap yard they will take it back and replace it. some dont though.

Well, i called the guy who sold it to me, some junk yard called nation wide auto out of toledo ohio, apparently an "inspector" will be out within 48 hours, but if its an easy fix, i was gonna try to save the trouble, but looks like i am SOL.

well the good news is if the "inspector" finds anything wrong it could work in your favor

Certainly sounds like it. Did you get the right tranny? Can't use sl2, etc.
