So i bought a civic this weekend for a new commuter car for myself.

I bought it from a friend, but the previous owner started to "paint" the car, the hood/roof is the normal color yet, along with the hatch door.

But everythign else is primered. pretty sure he didn't tape anything and just started spraying.

I just scraped off so much overspray on the windows.

but how do I get the primer off of the black rubber weatherstripping and molding around the windows/doors?

something like finger nail polish remover probably be best bet. it may dry out the rubber though.

oh god....primer on the rubber..

Uh, is the rubber still pliable? or is it rock hard?

Id recommend throwing some playing cards under the window gaskets, if possible, and go at it with some super fine steel wool, and some sort of solvent. The playing cards are to protect your paint from the solvent.

Hopefully he used spray can primer, and not a two stage, because that's no fun to get rid of.

Also, if you're careful you can do remove a lot of it with a razor blade, but just watch your angle of attack.

i plan to actually mask off the car and paint it myself so idk if the paint gets messed up in the time being. ha
