id rather do all i can physically to manipulate the vehicle in such a fashion that the result of death is greatly lessend..
physical actions, will always trump irrational beliefs and actions, such as praying

as long as their is still a physical connection to the throttle (not really applicable in this case), brakes, and steering, then yes, he would have some measure of control.
