Mind you this isn't my car and my friend who has it thinks his car is made for racing. I think the spoiler looks dumb and serves no real purpose apart from aesthetics pleasing to tools.

Without proper aero and wind tunnel testing it is impossible to accurately say how much it "helps or hurts"

Your friend will never drive that car fast enough to possibly make that spoiler produce enough downforce for a noticeable gain. Especially not in a daily driving situation.

Not to mention if you look at a stock car, they use a duck fin design and not some over bearing goddy crap. I think it's pointless but he insist his car is going to be a rally racer.

I personally like the design, but only if it could have been a little shorter.

Yeah. My buddy told me they do it because: "Why would subaru put something that doesn't help on their cars?" I pretty much said that they do it because they give two fucks on the performance of the cars and are in the business of making money not making "rally racer" stock cars.
