Zero tolerance motor.

If the timing belt breaks, you're going to bend valves.

My friend bought one, and I had the misfortune of being his mechanic.

I do not suggest buying one unless you are comfortable working on motors yourself. They are not for the faint of skill.

That being said, the 951 is a hell of a car.

Have N/A one as a secondary daily driver with 130k miles on it now, had it since it had 60k
Only problem I ever had was power steering pump was leaking. simple fix..
Just keep up with maintenance, mostly the timing belt

Loved it personally, rare and inexpensive. people always approaching me asking about it, they always think it can go like 180+ mphs lol... won't get those reactions from most cars of its price range.
It's not a very fast car, but takes corners awesomely. very fun!!
Do shoot for the S, S2, or Turbo though.

Love my 944 so much that I'm looking to get the turbo'd (951) one soon.

For a casual driver yes... If you plan on pushing it, refer to

think about your dog, would she like to sit in a 944 seat?
on a more serous note, they are known for their great handling and lack of hp (unless turbo model)
id say its a great car with a different engine kinda like an rx7
