The long awaited v6 Mustang project has finally got under way with some tear down and parts orders.

She's been sitting neglected like this for almost 2 months;
(on the other side of the mustang is the contour we no longer own, because Mercedes)

The reason I bought her is my affinity for this;

I was thrilled when the 35th anniversary Mustangs came out. I was 13, and Mustangs had been in the doldrums for 3 years at that point as far as I was concerned.

Currently on order (the first mods going into it);

Eibach Pro-System-Plus Handling Kit (springs, struts, shocks, sway bars)
Prothane Total Bushing Kit (all suspension and steering component bushings)
SR Performance Caster Camber Plates
Both Spindles(salvage)
Left Lower Control Arm(salvage)
Used but practically new 18"x7.5" Konig wheels
Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires

I won't be doing the suspension work myself (the only part I won't do myself) because walmart jack stands and a 25 dollar socket set just won't cut it on that.
Pretty much everything else will be bolt on build-up style (because not race car)

lol well the motor's bone stock in near perfect condition, so I thought "Do somethin' about that brake dive and rear end stability first, Gus."
These things didn't come stock with a rear sway bar you know...

Neither did my car. But I'm only 2300 pounds.

Thing is, with the right suspension you could be incredibly quick around a track. Despite the v6. I'd even be willing to bet you'd give some era GTs a run for their money.

Yeah, I think so :) She'll probably never see a track, but I participate in a lot of mountain drives, living in northwest Arkansas. I'll be glad to have a good toy for the mountain curves.

fuck the ozarks and arkansas. i hate that state almost as much as i hate oklahoma and all their damn jew pikes.

good luck on your mustang though. also i wouldnt worry about the jackstands being from walmart. as long as the teeth hold good in them there shouldnt be any worries. also buy yourself some hand tools so you dont have to pay the grease monkeys. if you switch to geico i bet you could save enough for decent tools :thumbsup:

lol, not enough for a lift, which is about the only way I'd be willing to do all that suspension work myself.

I don't want to do it :p Suspension and steering are not the least bit enjoyable for me. When I get to restore the interior and the body, I'll be happy. I'll also enjoy doing the engine mods quite a bit.

the bushing kit would probably be tedious as hell. the spindles and stuff wouldnt be that bad. i have to get struts to put on my mazda so im going to wait until i get a nice warm weekend so we can open the garage up and not have to worry about building a fire in the stove. i hate working on stuff on a cold concrete floor lol
