Asking price is $4800, but I would talk him down.

All original American parts and recently rebuilt tranny (TH400), not sure if auto/manual

237CI 275hp turbo-fire V8 with SMI Quadrajet carb

Looks like a fun car to tear apart and rebuild (even though it runs fine).

Think it's worth it?

th400 is automatic. also if you get it dont let anyone tell you the quadrajet is jet is junk. you just need to find someone that knows how to tune them right. also if you just want to tear it apart and rebuild it why dont you just buy a project car instead?

Mostly because I need a daily driver for now, and I can't afford two cars. I won't be rebuilding it until the summer. Also, the guy who put that carb in apparently tuned it pretty well.

i would not suggest a 1968 vehicle as a daily driver. but no doubt about impalas having great potential, personally i prefer the coupes with the sloppier rear

If it's well-maintained, I don't think it should be a problem to use as a daily driver. It shouldn't be any more likely to break down than it was in the '60s if I keep a close eye.

e\ yeah, I like that style more too, but I can't find one for less than $20k

Flip it for 6k, buy a beater, buy a project car in March, profit. I personally know guys who would give 6-8 for that car if it's running well.

Not a bad idea. Maybe I'll rebuild the engine first to get a little more out of it.

That or I'll buy it and replace the trans with a manual 5-speed (if I can't find one that fits) so the MPG isn't shit and use it for a commuter.

as jdh said. quadrajets are good carbs. Not a lot of people left on this earth that know how to tune em perfectly.
