Well, really what I can expect as a fair price.
Looking for a 1996+ m3.
Coupe, 5 speed.
Mileage isn't really a concern as long as engine is working properly.
I've looked around and I can't seem to find like a definite price.
I'm hoping to find one from $5k-$7k.

I personally would never get any car with over 100k miles. Probably just going to run into tons of maintenance costs. IMO it would be much smarter/cheaper in the long run to go with a shitty beater and to save your money for when you can afford a nicer/newer car with lower mileage.

or you can try to find a m3 like you said and hope it's not beat to shit and runs into issues in the near future.

Save your money until you can afford a good example.

This is always one of the most ignorant things I see.

I won't buy car X because it has Y amount of mileage.

Each car has been driven, taken care of and maintenanced differently mileage is not the be all end all of buying a car.

That's probably because you can afford a newer vehicle and you don't like or have time to work on your own car much.

A buddy of mine bought a GS400 with 250K km and drove it all the way to 400K km, but he knew what he was looking at and dealing with when he bought the car.

It's just silly to say don't buy a car because it has X amount of mileage.

lol I think you need to realize that both times I stated IN MY OPINION. I'm assuming OP posted this thread to ask for people's opinion's on what to do with his next car.

I agree that I do not enjoy working on cars if I'm not adding aftermarket parts. I do like to do some stuff myself, but would not enjoy having to worry about wether or not my car will start (much like my friends who have bought high mileage cars). IF I had to buy a high mileage car it would be a honda or a nissan or an old fbody.

Mileage won't matter because I'm gonna end up replacing crank, pistons, rods, injectors, etc etc.

/e unless the car shows it's been beat to shit of course. I'm not gonna get one that looks like it has hundred's of thousands of miles.

well there you go, I personally like the look of e36 and if you know your going to replacing shit then absolutely go for it.
