I feel like this has to do with the gain being off with the amount of power it's getting.

The only thing I've changed in my car since this happened was I replaced the battery and bought new posts for it then applied some anti corrosive gel.

Could this gel seriously be dropping the voltage my amp is getting?

wat it do.

I don't even want to drive without my subs

Anyway, I'll turn my volume up to about 16 (which is fairly conservative on my pioneer deck) and it'll work, but 20+ it shuts off.

Amp stays on, it just stops sending a signal to the subs.

Anyway I'm fairly stumped.
Halp.

Thoughts on what I should check / test?

testing voltage is the first step.

12.52 with the car off
so will obviously go up to ~14 with the car on.

amp goes into a safe mode but stays on?

what ohm are your subs wired to and what ohms can your amp do?

Yeah don't assume your voltage will just "go up" when the car starts.

If it's anything less than 14 amps while running the stereo, the alternator is not putting out enough current for your modifications.

I bought the setup at best buy and everything worked for 2ish years without a single flaw so I think it's an issue other than this but
This is my amp
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Alpine+-+500W+Class+D+Mono+MOSFET+Amplifier+with+Adjustable+Crossover/8699358.p;jsessionid=2B3EDE2DCBF2D8A8FC3701C2536DAB6D.bbolsp-app05-16?id=1202649210874&skuId=8699358
And my subs are 2x 12" kicker comp series at 4ohm.

the alternator is not running
because the car is not on.
Batteries draw around 12 volts while off and when you turn your car on you draw more because of the alternator.

Pls make sense of your post as an alternator will not run with the car off.
Thx.
The only mod I have currently drawing power from my battery is the amp for my subs.
My fogs aren't hooked up because I don't need them right now
My CB isn't hooked up because I don't need it right now.

12.5 volts while the cars off
All fuses on amp fine
Inline fuse under the hood fine

and those numbers are with the amp running and then shutting off?

need to know what the voltage is like when the amp is shutting off.
