I need something for the winter, and possibly to keep as a DD for a while.
I tried to drive my gto to work yesterday, spun out 3 times in a distance of less than a 1/4 mile, just turned around and went back home.

so in any case, i need a winter car...

been thinking about the following:

an audi something
AWD passat
impreza
one of the AWD volvo models

trying to stay around 10k, i would prefer to have something with awd ove fwd.'

i do not want a SUV/Crossover either...

you could probably get a volvo s60 for a decent price that has mid/highish mileage but still in good condition to use as a winter/dd...turbo + awd + volvo safety = good choice

I don't know anything about volvo reliability or anything only that they're expensive to maintain (somewhat?)

edit: a wrx would be sick but doubt you could afford a decent one with ~10k

if you're looking for a Volvo go with an earlier 2000's

This was peak of their quality, in my opinion. Quality has gotten horrid in the passed couple years.

I drove an 02 xc70 for a while. GREAT in the snow. Perfect winter whip.

If this is strictly winter, why go for an expensive brand that could lead to expensive repairs.

Go with an impreza or legacy.

Or Mazda 3 for fwd.

If it were up to me I'd definitely go with the AWD Passat...I'm not really a Volvo or wagon guy...no need to have all those cubic inches for more gas guzzling.

:edit

or the Impreza as well...
