im replacing the 9inch in the back of my 89 ford bronco and replacing it with a 14 bolt 1 ton axle with a rear detriot cromo shafts and 4.56 gears also i will be shaving the bottom of it to make more room, i will be adding a disk brake kit to

so here is my to do list

Drop gas tank
Remove old shackle flip kit and install new one
Remove leaf springs and Install new Deavers
Remove 9"

Rebuild 14 bolt - Reassemble hubs, disk brake kit, cut off perches, weld on new perches, shave lip, weld on shock mounts, install new yoke and yoke guard

Rebuild 44 - Install 8 lug outers

Remove rear driveshaft and install 1330-1350 conversion joint.

Stuff that needs to get done but not necesarily this weekend:
Remove front driveshaft for paint
Finish rear upper shock mount
Design, build and mount rear bump stops.
Fix bumper
Convert spare tire carrier to 8 lug

9inch out

bare ass end, old flip is off and tank it out and leafs gone

Late friday night, we had the gas tank removed, new shackle flip brackets in and the Deavers in place. The Deavers are now a 12 leaf pack, they were 8 before but were way way to soft and over loaded, i sent them back to deaver and got them to add some leafs

the next morning i had the 14 bolt completely bare, spring pirches off, shock tabs gone also

I shaved the housing about 1/2-3/4". I probably could've done some mroe but I was mainly trying to make it smooth so there isnt that lip at the low point. Before -

I also welded the axle tubes. Probably unecesary but what the hell.

Pinion guard is from Ruff Stuff and the new 1350, u-bolt style yoke is from WFO

i also cut a hole in the floor so if i have a problem with the fuel pump i do not have to drop the tank which is super frustrating

i parted out a 79 bronco and saved a piece of its floor, so i cut the piece of mine out, and then used the 79 floor boards and plug welded it from below, so the piece i cut out would sit flush

i am going to put a shit load of silicone down and use sheet screws in the bottom of the ribs so i can still slide stuff in and out

more progress to come

Awesome bro keep us posted.

My buddy has a 14 bolt semi-floating with disc brakes he is gonna sell me. For right now I plan on keeping stock axles as my front end is gonna be the weak point by a long shot until I can figure out which direction I wanna go.

Btw im assuming its a Full floating 14 bolt?

We should hit up some trails here in 6 months or so when I got my shit ready to roll.
