I bought a 2005 GMC sierra z71, has a bad transfer case, possibly bad tranny. Ive been trying to figure out what years I can swap into mine, ive found so much conflicting info its unreal. My setup is a 4l60e with a np264 272 ratio. Electronic 4x4 with the auto 4wd, 2 hi, 4hi, 4low setup.

Ive got a friend with a 4l60e and np246 but it came out of a 2001 and ive seen some people say that anything from 2001 through an 07 classic would work, ive also seem people saying its too old and the electronics have changed.

Just trying to figure out if it's gonna work before I waste the drive and time putting it in.

I recently went through a similar scenario with the 6L80. You should stick with anything from 2005-2009 as your model has the 15pin harness connector. This is if your looking for the most hassle free swap. I believe torque converter is the same. Also, can run your VIN to be sure of exactly what you have, 4x4 matters and if you have a tow package. Good Luck. Transmission trouble always is a pain and expensive unfortunately.
