I am seeking help with a problem.

The splines on the frame, where the footrests attach to the motorcycle, are stripped. The footrests have coarser splines, while the frame has finer ones. As a result, the finer splines on the frame are completely stripped off. Apparently, someone many years ago installed the wrong footrests with mismatched splines.

Now, it seems there’s no point in searching for footrests with finer splines, as there are no splines left on the frame at all.

I understand the only options are probably:

1) Try to find footrests with finer splines and place a washer like this between the footrest and frame to prevent free movement.
2) Find more footrests with coarse splines, cut off the splines from the footrests, and weld them onto the frame so that I have coarse splines on both the footrests and the frame.
3) Use a grinder/file/Dremel to create new coarse splines on the frame.

Which option would you recommend to get the footrest splines back on the frame?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Ural M62, 1965. Thanks.

Probably need to weld new spline onto frame, then get new foot rest pegs?

I'd just weld it straight to frame, but you probably want that adjustability
