if you get a cheap one, yes it may damage your paint -- but there are covers with an inner layer of fleece lining, which protects the paint and finish

I think their argument was that as a daily driver, sand and other debris from the road will naturally get on the car. Once I get home and slide the cover over, it will drag whatever the road picked up across my paint. So sure, it covers up against the elements, but can't "remove" what is already on the car if you know what I mean.

I'm assuming that no matter what the inner layer is, it can't prevent/protect against that, right?

it's for sure important to make sure that the car is somewhat clean before sliding a cover on.
what i'm saying is, those "debris" that will eventually land on your car during your daily drive is inevitable and putting a cover on can only help protect and extend your car's finish over time -- if it wasn't the case car covers wouldn't exist at all.
it's better to have one than nothing!

while I agree car covers can be great, the argument that they wouldn't exist unless needed is asinine lol. Like society today doesn't make so many unnecessary products it is sickening.

Yeah...

A microfiber towel will swirl clear coat if given the proper circumstances. I'm not putting fabric on my paint. Furthermore, my most abrasive cutting setup for my DA is lambswool. Soft to the touch, not soft on the paint. The best thing for your finish is for nothing to ever come in contact with it.

If you can afford a 80k $ car just buy a metal single car carport. They're like 700$ installed

You will be fine outdoors :)

I leave my $60,000 car outside everyday! Snowstorms, hurricanes, summer, winter etc. (north east)

But tbh your best bet is one of those "car tents" like the 2 guys above me mentioned.

I doubt the HSA in a $400k neighborhood will let him have a carport or tent.

Vouch this.

They threw a shit fit that I had my boat in the driveway and insisted I put it in the garage (with a ski tower on it the top of the boat is 8.5 feet on the trailer)

I told them that if they could get the boat in the garage that i'd never bring it back. SO we compromised and they sent me a $300 dollar fine. Pricks.
