That last statement is utterly false. I'm not a grease monkey, i'm a performance car enthusiast. I don't work on people's daily drivers. I am slowly working my way into real estate, and i have a nice vehicle to drive to meetings that require it. You attacked me based on the assumption that the 7 year old picture of my formula was indicative of what i can afford to own. I have 4 other vehicles, all newer than that one.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Stay in the field a little longer and when you get enough clientele or rivals/peers you'll start to have a change of mindset on what gets considered to be "nice" vs a "toy to play with on the weekend"

lets compare apple to apples here. If you drive an r8, sure you have all the right in the world to hate on my "baby" amg. If you drive a 100k bus, maybe not so much?

I'm not a real estate agent. I need to look respectable to incite trust, not to convince someone i have more going for me than i do. I flip houses and intend to invest in multifamily apartment housing for passive income generation. We have two totally different things going. I know your type and your field. A lot of those people were the ones that over leveraged themselves into bankruptcy 7 years ago.

my life doesn't revolve around cars like yours does. it is something that i enjoy - i have a dd cla amg and will get a c7 for fun on the weekends. that is probably all the money i will spend on cars for a while.

i actually put the rest of my money into flipping homes. That is how I was able to get where im at right now at my age.

I'm curious as to what you think is unreliable on a G8 GT.

How's Pontiac doing nowadays? Oh that's right...
GM brought over a car made by Holden to sell here in the states while they were going through bankruptcy and getting bailed out by Obama. The quality of parts used are questionable. i also guarantee in a short amount of time you'll notice different leaks because seals are wearing out.

A buddy had a GXP and went through two transmissions in no time. Maybe the standard model is different

The GXP has the same driveline as the corvette of the same year. It's an LS3 with a 6L80E or TR6060. That's a kickass setup for a 4 door car. The parts quality didn't change while they were going through the bailout. It's the same engine that was on ward's 10 best engines list.

My point is there is mechanically speaking nothing special about a G8 that would make it less reliable than other vehicles using the same driveline which are known for their reliability. There is a reason the GXP is holding value like it is...

The pontiac comment is completely irrelevant. Why people get caught up with individual brands owned by the largest Automaker in the world i'll never know. GM is GM, regardless of the badge on the front. The G8 is the same exact fucking platform as the 5th gen Camaro. It's a 5th gen with 4 doors. Well really, the 5th gen is a G8 with 2 doors if you want to get technical. The GXP is LS3 powered and the GT has a 6.0. I'm sorry your friend had problems with his trans but they've proven themselves reliable. The 6 speed auto is good at stock power levels and mild N/A builds. The 6060 is the best synchronized 6 speed manual money could buy in those years. Many a C6 Z06 has run 700+whp through them.
