Im not making it circumstantial at all, I'm just being blunt about it. Have you even popped the hood on a new domestic car? They are just as much of a cluster fuck as any foreign lol. And while the late models are simple, so are the late model foreigns... if you let a shop overcharge you for service that is no one's fault but the cars owner, and should have zero reflection on what it cost for upkeep.

A water pump for my 2014 gen V 5.3L silverado ($175) is only $50 more than a water pump for a 99 gen III silverado. A 2013 is the same price as a 99.

A water pump for a 2014 BMW 535i is $735. All 3 quotes are for a new carquest pump from advance.

or you could not pin a highly stocked part from chevys most generic and true motors to a BMW's well.... the shit they come up with lol
keep it in the class at least. ill bet if you looked up a waterpump for a Cadillac XTS or something, things might look a little different. <--- /e i was wrong on this

and you went to advance to compare those foreign and domestic prices... shame on you, those types of parts stores have laughable prices on things i've looked up in the past

and its like 80$ for my diesel, 45$ for my gti... we can sit here all night and pull cheap listed parts for no reason tbh.

point is anyone here that ever considers budget and knows how to goggle... you can find what you need for far less money, oem and all..
for a bmw waterpump i could probably source that part for 200-300$ with patience
