I remember back in the old days when this thread was about this:

What are people spending on these off the lot?

I'm getting a promotion and I've had my 98 Explorer for years, thinking if I can afford one of these beasts.

You kinda just proved my point...
The ZL1 is already higher priced than many vettes so making a faster Camaro isnt going to do much to vette sales as they are still a different market in many ways.
And by your same logic (changing the blower) I could bring up Shelby's 850HP Supersnake...

I know how you feel. Im in a no emissions county now which makes it worse, but I got no money for mods unless I skip buying another vehicle...

Its a delicate balance. They did the ZL1 because they needed an answer to the GT500. A really powerful muscle car. They don't want the corvette to compete with the GT500. However, they put the ZL1 in the price range of a Z51 C6 and it is faster. There was no way in hell they would make it faster than a grandsport or Z06. Its complicated and you have to think of it from many different angles.

That is what keeps their models balanced and it goes back to the 60's.

There is nothing stopping Ford from doing whatever they want. No model above the 500. There are two obvious reasons why they don't do what you suggested. 1, the power borders on unusable as it is now and the car will destroy most driver's confidence. 2, they have to leave room for future growth.

So again, things are like they are not because a manufacturer can't do better, but because they choose not too.

no, because people think theyre buying the better of the 2 cars, when theyre not..

You think most people buy the best vehicle based on stats? Many enthusiasts do. Many more are brand loyal. Then the lemmings buy whichever one they like for a myriad of reasons. Mostly looks.

which is why the mustang even has sales!

there are more idiots in this world than people who are smart, hence why the zl1 outsells the gt500, because idiots flock to the camaro.

They made the ZL1 because the GT500 proved there was a market for it and they want to take advantage of the sales that they were losing before it existing lol. Its all business.

Im sorry I have a bad habit of assuming people have the same thought process as I do.

When I said that I meant as an answer for its market share. The only way to take market share is to compete.

You're a grown man living off of your parents with nothing to show for yourself attempting to make baseless arguments over the internet and you fear for my children? haha. Let me know when you know how the real world works.

There was nothing wrong with your first answer, I was just making it a little more direct. But yeah, despite the fact that I'd never buy one the ZL1 is a respectable car. GM did a great job despite the bottleneck of the chassis. The next gen versions of both cars should be interesting.

This.
While I havent seen what is in store for the camaro, the idea of a lighter, IRS mustang with just as much power seems fun. Idk how well it will deliver though
